Hedgehog Hospital staff in Hertfordshire weighing a hedgehog before release

Having successfully released 83 hedgehogs back into the wild earlier this year, Shepreth Hedgehog Hospital has been struggling to meet the £1,500 monthly running costs, so trustees of the Shepreth Wildlife Conservation Charity have taken matters into their own hands and have launched a brand new annual fundraising event – ‘Hedgehog Day’ – to be held at Shepreth Wildlife Park this Bank Holiday Monday (26th August)

A host of activities from a magic show at 12.30 and animal encounters, where visitors get to meet and greet resident skunks and reptiles, to face painting tombolas, and presentations by the newly announced patron and hedgehog guru and author – Hugh Warwick.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to learn about the work behind the scenes in the hedgehog hospital and the imminent GPS tracking research which will be unveiled later this year.

To date, SWCC has raised £1,000’s to get the new hedgehog hospital facility up and running, but the Trustees still need to raise a further £40,000 to pay back the original loan which was taken out to get the hospital built last year.

So, please pop along this Monday to support this great cause and to show your affection for Britain’s favourite mammal. If you are not able to make the date but would still like to do your bit for this much loved garden friend, please visit: www.justgiving.com/SWCC/donate.

Admission fee applies.

Activities include…
Face & nail painting
Bouncy castle
Raffles & auction
Toy sale
Duck Race
Mr Bean Magic Show
Hugh Warwick Presentation
